Fall/Winter 2020 Must-Haves

In the pandemic era and amidst holidays, we reevaluate our lives, opting for more simplicity and high- quality essentials. We want our wardrobe to last more and be sustainable. Adjusting to the new realities, we are happier to shop for luxe basics we can wear both at home and outside.

Comfy Daywear

Inspired by the rising loungewear trend, most of our pieces exude comfort and confidence. Roomy silhouettes, soft and cozy fabrics, neutral hues, subtle motifs, and classic details are all we need. We love all chunky sweaters, oversize coats, easy layers, and things that cannot go out of fashion. Outerwear draws elements from the bathrobe style that has an open front and is accented at the waist with a self- tie belt. Knitwear comes down to varsity-style cardigans and sophisticated sweaters. It layers well with satin slip dresses, camisoles and silky skirts. Workwear button-downs and blouses with subtle Victorian elements are combined with tailored bottoms such as cigarette pants and pencil skirts. Pajama pants are also part of the game, pairing well with velvet slippers, slides, and 40s-style pumps. In soothing beige, crisp white, regal blue, stylish grey, and earthy brown, these pieces are here to stay.

Most of us that focus on fitness, we are currently dedicating some time to daily exercise. Elevated sportswear that comes down to athleisure allows us to have a workout session – yoga or other – in the garden or our living room. With the same elegant sweatpants and hoodies we are wearing at home, we can do some grocery shopping or a brief walk in the neighborhood. Sporty fabrics and silhouettes facilitate our moves and keep us sweat-free. As we get used to these liberating styles, we want to replicate them in fabrics – corduroy, denim, etc. – that make them eligible for other activities, such as picking up the kids from school or meeting up with friends in the daytime. Subtle and timeless hues are also golden rule – you don’t want them to be out-of-date in a few seasons from now. Fashion designers already meet this demand for investment pieces.

Versatile Eveningwear

Starting from the LBD or little black dress and continuing with detail-free bold and sparkly items, eveningwear comes down to the pieces you can mix & match, transform, wear multiple ways, accessorize creatively, and enjoy them for a very long time. A sequined dress in a classic silhouette is always a stunner. An ethereal dress you can layer with other pieces and elevate through jewelry is reborn eternally through smart styling. You don’t necessarily need a very elaborate design. You need to find one that can turn you into a chameleon. Red, white, black, gold, silver, and midnight blue belong to your current eveningwear palette. A sexy hem slit, a plunging neckline, or an open back is attention- grabbing. Play between fit & flare, column, and mermaid silhouettes, and you will always look sensational. Femininity can take on various shapes, so celebrate your curves and be yourself.

If a dress isn’t a creative option for you, eveningwear separates are a fun way to mix & match silhouettes, colors, and even motifs. Juxtapose silky and velvety fabrics, fluffiness and fuzziness with sleekness, muted with vibrant hues, opaque with shiny textures, and simple with edgier pieces. Separates are unexpected and say a lot more about your personality. We highly recommend luxe sweaters with ethereal skirts, tailored blazers with relaxed-fit pants, oversize layers with fitted dresses, asymmetries with symmetries, and more. Styling can turn eveningwear into looking younger, sportier, more rebellious, crossing lines and boundaries of every kind, projecting who you are. A neutral hue makes a bold hue feel more eclectic. Instead of going full-on with sparkle, you can moderate it with matt fabrics. Take risks with your combinations; we are supposed to break the rules. This is the era of inventing and reinventing!
